FAQ

Is there a limit to the number of sessions I can have with a therapist?

There is no limit to the sessions a student has access to, you will be able to make use of them as much as needed. Please note that Empower Me is meant to offer quick, on-the-spot mental wellness support rather than an in-depth approach to mental health support and long-term recovery. Your file will begin with 4 free sessions and may be renewed at no additional cost.

Will I have to pay for the service?

As an eligible student, access to professionals via Empower Me does not incur extra cost. However, if you get a referral to an external service or resources with additional fees, they may not be fully or partially covered. Please visit Studentcare’s page dedicated to your coverage detail to learn more on health services covered by the student insurance.

If I have been seeing a therapist through Empower Me and wish to continue having sessions with the same therapist beyond the end of my eligible coverage period, will I be able to?

While access to Empower Me ends along with the end of your eligibility for the Health and Dental Plan, you will still be able to purchase individual therapy sessions directly from your therapist. Please note that if you wish to do so, you will need to make the necessary arrangements by speaking with your therapist about this directly.

Can I connect with Empower Me outside Canada?

As Empower Me services are offered virtually through Dialogue, the services are available 24/7, in both English and French, from any country, if you are outside Canada for less than 90 days.

Are there additional mental health resources available to undergraduate students?
