LEGAL INFORMATION CLINIC (LIC) ADMIN ASSISTANT

The CSU is looking to hire two Legal Information Clinic (LIC) Admin Assistant starting December 4, 2023.  The deadline to apply externally is 11:59 pm on Friday, November 24th, 2023.  As per the collective agreement, internal candidates shall have preference. Details of the posting are as follows:

LEGAL INFORMATION CLINIC (LIC) ADMIN ASSISTANT

Type of Position: Part-time; Permanent.

Start Date: December 4, 2023

End Date: Permanent

Location:   H-729

Salary/Hourly Rate:  $20.21/hour, at least 10 hours per week

Class: 3 Level 1 (or as per the Collective Agreement wage policy)

 

Description and Scope:

The Concordia Student Union (CSU) is an organization run separately from the University governing bodies at-large and was created to represent the voice of the undergraduate student body at Concordia. A team of elected student executives and 40+ staff work within the Union to represent and advocate for student rights, offer services that make a difference in the lives of the undergraduate student population, and overall aim to have a positive impact on the student life experience at Concordia.

The Legal Information Clinic (LIC) is a service provided by the CSU to offer legal information and referrals to our community. Volunteer law students provide legal information about immigration law, consumer protection, discrimination, and other fields of law with the assistance of the LIC Manager. The LIC also provides accompaniment services and referrals to legal practitioners.

The LIC Assistant must be available to work in-person at the CSU office at least 10 hours per week, between Monday to Friday, 12h00 to 17h00, during the LIC’s operating hours.

*Note- The Work-Study program, supported by the Financial Aids and Awards office, allows full-time Concordia students to work on a part-time basis, on campus. Please keep in mind that those eligible must be registered in a program at Concordia, studying on a full-time basis.  Canadian students must be receiving governmental student aid. International (except U.S.) students must be in or beyond their second year of study, paying the full international rate and experiencing financial difficulty.
