Description and Scope:
The Concordia Student Union (CSU) is an organization run separately from the University governing bodies at-large and was created to represent the voice of the undergraduate student body at Concordia. A team of elected student executives and 40+ staff work within the Union to represent and advocate for student rights, offer services that make a difference in the lives of the undergraduate student population, and overall aim to have a positive impact on the student life experience at Concordia.

The Legal Information Clinic (LIC) is a service provided by the CSU to offer legal information and referrals to our community. Volunteer law students provide legal information about immigration law, consumer protection, discrimination, and other fields of law with the assistance of the LIC Manager. The LIC also provides accompaniment services and referrals to legal practitioners.
The LIC Assistant must be available to work in-person at the CSU office at least 10 hours per week, between Monday to Friday, 12h00 to 17h00, during the LIC’s operating hours.
Responsibilities:
- Reception, scheduling & making appointments.
- Taking messages & answering phone calls throughout the day.
- Writing up protocols/office procedures, administrative reports, and articles.
- Putting documents & materials on the intranet and internet.
- Maintaining the library and ensuring resources are up to date.
- Submitting requisitions for payment/reimbursement.
- Training volunteers and new clinic staff in office procedures.
- Organizing events & training logistics.
- Ordering supplies & ensuring desks are equipped with supplies and required forms at all times.
- Collecting & compiling stats and feedback for reports and evaluating clinic’s services.
- Editing documents.
- Handling and sending correspondence.
- Maintaining order in office of files, supplies, and other administrative tasks.
Essential Requirements:
- Excellent speaking and writing skills in English and conversational French.
- Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills.
- Patient and must be able to work with the full spectrum of diversity within the Concordia community.
- Ability to research and convey information with clarity and accuracy.
- General knowledge of Concordia University and of the CSU and its services.
- Ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and work as a team.
- Computer literate, knowledge of Excel, internet browsers and search engines.
- Must be authorized to work in Canada (valid SIN card required).
- Must be a full-time undergraduate student at Concordia University.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Highly organized.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Must be available to work in-person at the LIC office at least 10 hours per week between Mon. to Friday, 12h00 to 17h00, during the LIC’s operating hours.
- Internal candidates shall have preference.
Assets:
- Experience providing front-line service in a fast-paced environment;
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Adobe Acrobat and Excel;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Stream, PowerPoint, and Planner;
- Experience working with customer relation management (CRM) software, such as Salesforce
- Experience as administrative assistant or receptionist
