Frontier College

Frontier College is a national, non-profit literacy organization. We believe literacy is a right, and we work inclusively with volunteers and community partners to help children, youth and adults build the skills and confidence they need to accomplish their goals. Our network of staff and volunteers provides excellent and effective programming to improve literacy in communities across Canada, from coast to coast to coast. We value mutual respect and collaboration in all our relationships.

Each September and each January, Frontier College Club seeks out Concordia students wishing to join our team as literacy volunteers involved in adult tutoring, homework support and reading circles with children. The Club also offers on-campus volunteering opportunities to students interested in the administrative and coordination aspects of volunteering through the OT (Organizational Team). This committee includes students in charge of on-campus recruitment, selection, and training of new volunteer. The tasks of the OT members include attending regular meetings, conducting information and training sessions, interviewing potential recruits, verifying references as well as working on special projects and events.
