The CSU’s mission is to serve students, defend their rights, and act as their highest representative body at Concordia. Two things are essential: that we are beholden to our membership, and that our funds are used responsibly.

Description of the Role: The Standing Committee on Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Violence (SMSV) is a permanent University committee of students, faculty, and staff convened to revise and implement the University’s Policy on Sexual Violence and coordinate efforts to prevent and respond to campus sexual violence and sexual misconduct.

Specifically, this group will address, implement and monitor both the University’s obligations under Bill 151 as well as the University’s progress on the 2018 task force recommendations and priorities.

Eligibility: Applicants must be currently-enrolled Concordia undergraduate students.

Equitable Appointing: The Concordia Student Union welcomes the contributions that individuals from traditionally marginalized communities, as outlined under the prohibited grounds for discrimination in the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, bring to our organization. Marginalized communities include racialized people and visible minorities; Indigenous people; women; 2SLGBTQIA+ people; ethnic minorities; language minorities; and people with disabilities. Applicants shall feel free to self-identify in their cover letter or application if they are a member of a marginalized community. Candidates may also feel free to include the phrase “I would like to be considered for employment equity” to be considered for employment equity without disclosing which group they are a part of.

How to Apply: Please email your cover letter and CV to appointments@csu.qc.ca with “SMSV Committee Member – 2021” as the email subject line.
