SUMMARY:Know Your Rights - Legal Info 101
DESCRIPTION:What should you do if you get stopped by the cops? What if the protest you’re at is declared illegal? This workshop will equip you with basic legal information as it relates to your activism and social justice work\, and orient you toward available resources that will empower you to know your rights and keep fighting for what’s right!\nThis workshop will be given by Me Arij Riahi\, a Montreal lawyer with deep roots in grassroots and social justice work. Her practice primarily works with local activists\, students\, and people from marginalized communities in Quebec\, and focuses on cases dealing with issues of racial profiling\, mental health\, constitutional rights\, and civil liberties.\nThis is the fifth in a series of virtual workshops and discussions taking place regularly through the rest of the Winter semester around the topics of Black Lives Matter\, Black and Indigenous history and movements in the Canadian\, Montreal\, and Concordia contexts\, and combating systemic racism\, anti-Blackness\, and racist police violence. These workshops primarily aim to provide practical tools and knowledge for students who are interested in contributing to movements and activism on campus and/or in the community. This year\, they will be 100% virtual and offered on an open basis – no registration required!\n**If you have any specific needs or requests related to accessibility for this workshop\, please send us an email at campaigns@csu.qc.ca and we will do our very best to accommodate you.**
